Maintenance Cycle of UCS 2 will end on 31st December 2013

The maintenance cycle of UCS 2 will end on 31st December 2013. The maintenance with bug and security fixes for the UCS 2 major branch including UCS 2.4 will thus stop. This will also affect all Univention products based on UCS 2.4, such as UCS@school 2.4, Univention Corporate Desktop (UCD) in the versions 2.4 and 3.1 and UCS Thin Client Services (UCS TCS) 3.1.

Univention Corporate Server (UCS) 2 was released six years ago on 11th December 2007. Customers still on UCS 2.4 are encouraged to upgrade to the UCS 3 branch. With UCS 3.1, customers get Linux Kernel 3.2, Univention App Center and support for Microsoft Windows 2012 and Windows 8. As to UCS@school, the version 3.1 R2 is the latest maintained version.

Customers with UCD and UCS TCS can change to Univention Corporate Client (UCC) as the successor product: Univention publishes new client system with central management.

Please contact your partner or Univention for any questions.

An overview of the maintenance cycle of UCS can be found in the Univention Wiki in the article “Maintenance Cycle for UCS”. Information on the maintenance cycles of other Univention products can be found in the article Maintenance Cycles.
