Univention Corporate Server 3.1 released

We are very happy to announce the first minor release of Univention Corporate Server (UCS) 3, an Open Source solution for identity, infrastructure and virtualization management and enterprise Linux distribution. Considerable highlights are Univention App Center, the tool Univention AD Takeover for a simple migration of a Microsoft Active Directory to a UCS installation with Samba 4 and the support for Microsoft Windows 8 and Microsoft Windows 2012.

The UCS 3.1 Quickstart Guide gives an introduction to UCS 3.1. The UCS 3.1 manual provides an extensive documentation. It is now available in PDF and HTML format. The migration from Microsoft Active Directory to UCS with Samba 4 is described in Univention AD Takeover. Articles about Samba 4 and UCS in general can found in Univention Wiki.

An overview about the changes and new features are listed at our websites and in the release notes. Please consider the notes for the update to UCS 3.1 in the release notes, as well as the extensive changelog. Information about the update to Samba 4 can be found in the article Migration from Samba 3 to Samba 4.

The DVD-ISO images can be downloaded from our download servers. The images are available for 32-bit and 64-bit systems and can be downloaded from our website: http://www.univention.de/en/download/. The VMware image and the Amazon Machine Image (AMI) in Amazon EC2 are updated to the latest version, as well.

Questions about UCS 3.1 or the update from UCS 3.0 to UCS 3.1 can be posted in our forum in the section UCS.
