First Release Candidate of UCS 3.0 released

We are pleased to announce the availability of the first release candidate of UCS 3.0 as DVD-ISO for i386 and amd64. It addresses technology partners, partners and customers, who want to first get an impression, update their own solutions for UCS 3.0 and give feedback. The release candidate is not designated for production use. An update to the final stable release of UCS 3.0 is not supported.

The first release candidate replenishes the second milestone with the following elements:

[li] Migration of Samba 3 to Samba 4[/li]
[li] Integration of file and print services for Samba 4[/li]
[li] Dynamic Kerberos DNS updates for Microsoft Windows Clients[/li]
[li] Extensive IPv6 support in UCS and the UCS management system[/li]
[li] Complete reworking of the firewall[/li]
[li] Update of Xen to version 4.1.2[/li]
[li] Additional modules and functions have been added to the new Univention Management Console (UMC), e.g. the modules for Basic settings, Filesystem quotas, Online Update, Package Management and Software Monitor. The Univention Directory Manager (UDM) is integrated into the UMC in UCS 3.0.[/li]
[li] Extended attributes in UCS management system and in the command-line interface.[/li][/ul]
The following limitations apply for this release candidate that will be worked on:
[ul]
[li] UVMM: Add and edit of network interfaces for virtual machines is not yet possible[/li]
[li] UMC: File upload is not yet activated[/li]
[li] UMC: Checkboxes do not always reflect the correct status[/li]
[li] UMC: Multiple edit and move of objects is not yet possible[/li]
[li] UMC: Module system information is not yet available[/li]
[li] UMC: Configuration of printer quota in the module printer administration is not yet available[/li]
[li] UMC: Work on the module package management is not yet finished[/li][/ul]
The installed system is configured to retrieve package updates from testing.univention.de.
